Ombre Brow FAQs

What are ombre brows?

Ombre brows provide a lasting option for brow enhancement. They achieve a pixelated shading effect that transitions from light to dark through the use of a high-quality cosmetic tattoo machine, resulting in a beautiful ombre appearance. This approach delivers a well-defined and voluminous brow that maintains its shape for an extended duration compared to alternative methods.

The ombre brow is adaptable and can be tailored to suit your desired level of drama, from subtle to more pronounced. This style is suitable for most skin types and typically involves minimal discomfort for the client during the treatment.

Who cannot get a cosmetic tattoo?

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding

  • Under 18s

  • Affected by Aids, HIV or Hepatitis

  • Prone to keloid scarring

  • Previously tattooed and the tattoo is still too dark

  • If you are allergic to tattoo ink

  • Must be off Accutane for 1 year

  • Radiotherapy or chemotherapy at any time within the last 6 months

How long does it last?

Cosmetic tattooing is classified as a long-lasting procedure since it cannot be removed by washing. Instead, the body gradually metabolizes the pigment over time. Typically, the results endure for 1-10 years, though it can persist even longer, and remnants of the pigment will remain in the skin.

How many appointments are required?

Typically, the process requires two sessions for completion. Following the healing period, the color may exhibit a slightly lighter and softer appearance. Healing rates vary among individuals. If your cosmetic tattoo doesn't heal flawlessly after the initial session, adjustments will be made during the touch-up session, potentially involving the use of darker pigments as needed.

How long do ombre brows take to heal?

The healing process may span up to two weeks and could involve slight scabbing and peeling. It's crucial not to pick at these areas as it may disrupt the pigment. Adherence to the provided aftercare instructions is vital to facilitate the proper healing of your eyebrows.

What are the long term effects of a cosmetic tattoo?

Over time, your brows may naturally adopt a softer appearance as your skin ages. To preserve your cosmetic tattoo's vibrancy, it's advisable to schedule a touch-up session every 12-18 months. Outcomes can differ from one client to another.

It's important to be aware that individuals with oily skin may notice that their results appear softer and somewhat diffused compared to those with different skin types.

How do I prepare for my cosmetic tattoo?

In the 48 hours leading up to your treatment, it's important to steer clear of the following:

  • All sources of caffeine

  • Alcohol

  • Fish oil

  • Any blood-thinning medications, like Aspirin, Ibuprofen, or Niacin, as they may lead to increased bleeding and potentially affect your results.

Additionally, it's crucial to avoid sun exposure and tanning bed use for 30 days both before and after the treatment, as your skin may undergo peeling and shedding, which could remove the pigment.

Please be aware that I won't be able to perform tattooing over any blemishes, sores, or moles within or near the brow area. Additionally, if you are prone to keloid scarring, you may not be a suitable candidate for this service.

Should I wax my brows before my appointment?

Refrain from any brow maintenance for a month or two before your brow tattooing session, as this will contribute to the development of your new brows. The more hair, the better!

When should I book a touch up?

It is recommended to schedule touch-up sessions 6-8 weeks following the initial treatment, which provides adequate time for your eyebrows to heal before the perfecting session. It's essential to emphasize that the touch-up session is just as crucial as the initial treatment, as the entire process unfolds in two sessions to achieve the finest results.

What will my brows look like immediately after the appointment?

In the initial days, you might notice that the color appears darker and more intense than anticipated. There's no need for concern! As your brows heal, they will gradually lighten. Minimal redness or swelling is completely normal and will subside after 24-48 hours following the appointment.
